Near-Term vs. Long-Term
In the future, you’re website won’t matter as much because users will have downloaded a widget to access your services with. In the future News and PR will be completely driven by engaged social communities. In the future we’ll be able to access every website (which will have some social aspect at this stage) with one single OpenID, no more annoying passwords and usernames. Ahh the in the long-term we’re going to see a revolution.
But we’re not quite there yet, and we’ve still got to work with one foot in the past and one just ahead of the present. Stuck between print ads and YouTube specific commercials. Sophisticated PR campaigns and blog-friendly CEOs. Balancing both near-term and long term priorities seems to me to be one of the biggest challenges facgin marketers today. It’ll be interesting to see who copes and who doesn’t.
