Google Friend Connect Adds Twitter Access

Google’s ‘Roll you own social website’ service, Friend Connect will now enable users with Twitter accounts to log-in to your Friend Connect enabled websites.

There is potentially a great virtuous circle here. Any Twitter account holders who sign up to interact with your website can easily and quickly share your site with all their twitter friends. Considering the fast and frenzied pace at which news, links, and pithy comments race through Twitter, this could have your website reaching a much larger audience very rapidly as your site is ‘tweeted’.

It also provides a new tool, for online marketing specialists trying to convince clients to use Twitter to promote their services, because it provides a tidy feedback loop between Friend Connect enabled website and twitter-verse.

Will be interesting to see how things develop.

Oh and if you need a bit more information on Google Friend Connect, this explains it well. It’s effectively a straightforward way to add features such as commenting, discussion-boards, reviews and ratings to your website with Google doing all the heaving lifting.
